Despite this threat, Cricket West Indies (CWI) has assured everyone that they are taking all necessary measures to ensure the safety and security of everyone involved in the tournament. CEO Jonny Graves stated that they work closely with authorities in host countries and cities, constantly monitoring and evaluating the global landscape to ensure appropriate security plans are in place. They have already established a comprehensive and robust security plan for the tournament, which is their top priority.

Reports of potential threats have also emerged from Caribbean media. Trinidad Prime Minister Keith Rowley mentioned that his country’s security agency has plans in place to tackle any threats to matches. Barbados regional security officials are also monitoring potential threats to the ICC event. Intelligence of a possible threat through Pro-Islamic State (Daesh) media group ‘Nashir Pakistan’ has been received as well.

The T20 World Cup matches will be held in Barbados, Guyana, Antigua and Barbuda, St. Vincent, Saint Lucia, St. Vincent and the Grenadines, and Trinidad and Tobago in the Caribbean islands.
