Innovative Partnership to Address Health Disparities: South End Technology Center and Mary J. Harris Foundation, Inc.

Partnership between The South End Technology Center and The Mary J Harris Foundation to Advance Mel King’s Vision

The South End Technology Center and the Mary J. Harris Foundation, Inc have formed a partnership to address the issue of technology education and access in underserved communities, with a particular focus on health and life sciences. These populations often face systemic imbalances and disparities that impact their quality of life, especially in areas with significant social determinants of health.

Founded by the late MIT Professor, political figure, and activist Mel King, the South End Technology Center was established as a space to promote equal access to technology. Building on this vision, Executive Director Michael King and President and Founder Bianca Clark of the Mary J. Harris Foundation are working towards improving health literacy through technology, starting with senior citizens in Boston.

With experience as a former analyst at Silicon Valley Bank (SVB), Ms. Clark emphasizes the importance of their innovative approach. She states, “Our model of innovation is based on our trusted spaces, our vision is we’re supporting medical partners in managing care and delivering a standard for patients and their families. We intend to use technology as a steward for delivering a quality standard of health care and service.” This partnership represents a new beginning in advancing equitable healthcare.
