Intense Strip Mall Fire Causes Destruction and Evacuations, Injures One Deputy

Commercial structure fire in Palm Desert destroys multiple businesses

On Sunday morning, a commercial structure fire broke out in a 30,000 sq. ft building within a strip mall located on Country Club Drive and Monterey Avenue in Palm Desert. The fire caused the destruction of four businesses and prompted the evacuation of six nearby residents as firefighters worked to contain the blaze. Video footage captured by viewer Paul Aimbez showcases the intensity of the fire during its early hours.

Fortunately, only one Riverside County Sheriff’s Deputy sustained minor injuries and was transported to a local hospital for treatment. There have been no other reported injuries at this time. Fire crews will continue their presence at the scene to carry out overhaul and salvage operations. The cause of the fire is currently being investigated.
