Laviska Shenault’s Return Game Expertise Could Boost Seattle Seahawks’ Special Teams

Seahawks and Laviska Shenault reach agreement on contract terms

Seattle Seahawks have signed receiver Laviska Shenault, who could potentially provide a boost to the team’s return game. Shenault, a second-round pick by the Jaguars in 2020, was traded to the Panthers before the 2022 season. He has experience as a kick returner, averaging 27.7 yards per return on nine attempts over the last two seasons. Last season, he had six returns in eight games.

The new kick return rule passing could increase Shenault’s value with Seattle, as he has shown promise in the return game. In addition to his abilities as a returner, Shenault has also been productive as a receiver, catching 121 passes for 1,219 yards and five touchdowns in his first two seasons. However, his production dipped in the last two years with Carolina, where he only had 37 catches for 332 yards and one touchdown.

Shenault’s potential to make an impact on special teams and contribute as a receiver could be valuable to the Seahawks as they look to improve in the upcoming season. Bringing him onboard could provide much-needed help in the return game and add depth to their receiving corps.
