Local Residents and Architect Make their Mark: Appointments, Awards and Community Involvement in Clark County.

April 6 Business Briefing in Clark County

In February, Governor Jay Inslee appointed multiple Clark County residents to boards and commissions. Libby Mongue-Wymore of Vancouver was appointed to the Andy Hill Cancer Research Endowment, while Carolyn Sowdon of Vancouver was appointed to the Governor’s Committee on Disability Issues and Employment. Tracy Stanley of La Center was also appointed to the State Investment Board.

Meanwhile, LSW Architects recently welcomed Melissa Galen to the firm as a senior architect. Galen brings over ten years of experience in the housing sector, specializing in mass timber design. A graduate of Woodbury University, she has worked on a variety of projects including multifamily, senior living, mixed-use, and modular housing. Her recent work on PathHouse has garnered national attention for its innovative approach to addressing climate and housing crises.

On a different note, Renee Nutter from Clark County was honored by the National Utility Contractors Association with the 2024 “We Dig America” Award for her efforts in promoting construction careers among children and students through her event Dozer Day. The Nutter Family Foundation acquired the rights to the Dozer Day brand in 2008 and has expanded it to locations such as Kansas City, MO and Hendersonville, TN. To date, the foundation has reinvested $2.2 million into these communities where Dozer Day is held.
