Lummus Technology Secures Another Cumene License in India with IndianOil Corp. Ltd.

IOCL Chooses Lummus’ Cumene Technology for Project

Lummus Technology has strengthened its partnership with a long-time customer, IndianOil Corp. Ltd. (IOCL), by securing an award for their cumene technology. This is the second recent cumene license that Lummus has obtained in India, and it will be used in a 440 KTA unit at IOCL’s complex in Paradip, India as part of a petrochemical and polymers expansion project.

Lummus’ Chief Business Officer for Polymers and Petrochemicals, Romain Lemoine, stated that the cumene technology will provide IOCL with lower energy costs, reliability, operational efficiency, and exceptional product yield. This will help IOCL optimize their plant economics and support their growth initiatives. Lummus looks forward to continuing its successful partnership with IndianOil.

The scope of Lummus’ work includes providing the technology license for the cumene technology, basic design engineering, proprietary catalyst, site services, advisory services, and training. IOCL has previously licensed multiple technologies from Lummus at various complexes across India.

Since 2007, Lummus and Versalis have partnered to license cumene technologies. The cumene process is a liquid-phase alkylation technology using a proprietary zeolite catalyst, resulting in a very high cumene yield, ultra-high purity cumene product
