Man Charged with Multiple Sexual Assaults in Northern Virginia: Allegedly Raped Woman at Her Business and Attacked Student on Campus

Virginia Woman Held Captive and Raped Inside Her Own Business, Authorities Report – NBC4 Washington

Annandale, Virginia – A Northern Virginia man has been accused of raping a woman at her business and attempting to sexually assault a student on a college campus over the course of two days, according to Fairfax County police.

Kevin Lopez-Altan, 24, allegedly broke into an Annandale business before it opened on Wednesday and held a 59-year-old woman captive for several hours. The victim managed to escape and call the police, but Lopez-Altan had already fled the scene by the time officers arrived. Evidence was left behind, including fingerprints.

The following night, detectives learned that Lopez-Altan was also being investigated by the Northern Virginia Community College Police Department for another attack involving a student. The 20-year-old woman was able to resist her attacker with the help of a passerby.

A campus police officer who had previously worked as a Fairfax County sheriff’s deputy recognized Lopez-Altan from his tattoos and unusual hand movements during a previous encounter. This led authorities to identify him and locate him at Heritage Center in Annandale, where he was arrested on Friday afternoon.

Lopez-Altan faces multiple felony charges, including rape, forcible sodomy, and abduction with intent to defile. He is currently in custody without bond while police are concerned that there may be other victims who have not come forward.
