Mars Rover Discovers Dazzling Outcrops for Analysis on Sol 1249

Sol 1250: Contact Science Experiment Bumping

On Sol 1249, the rover was successfully driven to a location with numerous outcrops of bright bedrock. A large outcrop, partially visible on the left side of the image, has been chosen as the target for dumping a sand sample and further examination this weekend. Before this, the ChemCam and Mastcam will be used to observe the bedrock target known as “Kuiseb.” Afterward, the rover will back up, adjust slightly to the left, and then drive forward to position the large outcrop within arm’s reach for further analysis.

Following these activities, a series of images will be taken of the workspace to aid in selecting dump sites and contact science targets for tomorrow. These efforts are all part of ongoing exploration and investigation into Martian environment by rover. Please note that dates mentioned in these reports are subject to change due to various factors such as communication relays, rover status, and environmental conditions on Mars.
