Mayo Clinic Health System and UW-Eau Claire Collaborate on $340 Million Science and Health Sciences Building Project

Regents give go-ahead for Mayo Clinic Health System to lease space in new science building

The collaboration between Mayo Clinic Health System and the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire is set to provide valuable research and learning opportunities for both students and faculty. The University of Wisconsin System Board of Regents has approved a 30-year lease for Mayo Clinic Health System to occupy integrated research workspace in the new Science and Health Sciences Building at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire.

Mayo Clinic Health System has committed $13.7 million to the project and will have space on all five floors of the building, which is set to cost $340.3 million. Construction is set to begin this summer on the state-of-the-art Science and Health Sciences Building, which will replace the outdated Phillips Hall and house multiple academic programs, including biology, chemistry and biochemistry, computer science, geography and anthropology, geology and environmental science, public health and environmental studies, neuroscience, materials science and biomedical engineering, physics and astronomy, and nursing.

The space will be integrated into the UW-Eau Claire faculty and student spaces, providing research, instructional, office, and meeting space for both parties. The new facility will enhance the academic programs offered at the university by providing state-of-the-art facilities that support groundbreaking research in various fields of science and health sciences. This collaboration is expected to create a unique opportunity for both institutions to work together towards advancing their respective fields of expertise while also creating an environment that fosters innovation
