Miraculous Comeback: Hartford Yard Goats Defeat Portland Sea Dogs 12-5 in Seven Innings

Bullpen Struggles Persist as Sea Dogs Drop Third Consecutive Game

The Hartford Yard Goats staged a thrilling comeback to win their third straight game, defeating the Portland Sea Dogs 12-5 in an Eastern League matchup in Hartford, Connecticut. With the score tied at 4-4 in the seventh inning, the Yard Goats scored five runs to take the lead and ultimately secure the victory. Sterlin Thompson was the standout player of the game, hitting for three singles, a double, and three RBIs.

Portland had started off strong, taking an early lead with a two-run double by Nick Yorke and an RBI triple by Matthew Lugo in the third inning. Wikelman Gonzalez pitched well for Portland, striking out eight batters and allowing only one hit through five innings. However, it was the bullpen that couldn’t hold on to the lead and allowed the Yard Goats to come back from behind.

The Sea Dogs will now face a tough six-game homestand against the Reading Fightin Phils starting on Tuesday. This series will be crucial for Portland as they look to recover from this difficult loss and maintain their position in the division standings.
