MSSM Math Team Takes First Place at Maine State Math Meet, Earning Individual Awards and Showcasing Unique Educational Experience

Maine School of Science and Mathematics students excel at state competition

The Maine School of Science and Mathematics (MSSM) Math Team recently took first place at the 45th annual Maine State Math Meet on April 2 at the Augusta Civic Center. The team, comprised of 10 students from various parts of Maine, had high expectations after securing the highest total score in the state during the five regular math meets leading up to the competition.

Individual awards were given to Charley Reischer for his impressive performance in the Skip Gates Bowl, Gabriel Austin for his outstanding achievement in the competition, Rye Hughes for his remarkable performance in challenging math concepts, and Lochlan O’Connor for his exceptional work in mathematical problem-solving.

MSSM is a magnet high school that provides a unique educational experience for students by offering a rigorous curriculum and hands-on learning opportunities. As one of the few public boarding schools in the country, MSSM continues to participate in various academic competitions and events to showcase the talents of its students and educators.
