Certain fruits can alleviate motion sickness

Motion sickness can be caused by a range of factors, including conflicting signals sent to the brain or excessive stimulation of the vestibule. However, there are ways to prevent and alleviate symptoms through natural remedies and lifestyle changes.

Herbalist Bui Dac Sang from the Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology and the Hanoi Oriental Medicine Association recommends certain fruits to help reduce heat, limit motion sickness, and prevent fatigue. Lemon, rich in vitamin C and antioxidants, can help cool the body and reduce fatigue while aiding digestion. Oranges and tangerines are also high in vitamin C, providing a refreshing boost and helping to alleviate nausea. Coconut water is cooling and hydrating, offering relief from dehydration. Sugarcane, with its cold properties, can help purify the body and provide energy. Pineapple, rich in fiber, can aid in digestion and waste elimination.

In addition to consuming these fruits, individuals with motion sickness should also avoid overeating and opt for light, easily digestible foods such as biscuits or toast. Chewing gum can also help alleviate feelings of nausea and discomfort. It is important for individuals with motion sickness to sit in the upper seat or near a window where they can look out into the distance to reduce symptoms. Reading or using electronic devices while in motion should be avoided as it can further exacerbate discomfort.

Other factors that may contribute to motion sickness include closed spaces, cigarette smoke, gasoline odors, hot weather, long distance travel, young children
