Eagles to Face Packers in NFL’s Inaugural Game in Brazil

The Philadelphia Eagles will be facing the Green Bay Packers in Week 1 of the 2024 NFL season, but not at home in Titletown. Instead, the game will take place at Corinthians Arena, also known as Neo Química Arena, in São Paulo, Brazil. This will mark the NFL’s first-ever game in Brazil and is a historic moment for the league.

The decision to have the Packers play in Brazil was made after the Eagles were named as one of the participating teams. The Packers had been in contention with the Cleveland Browns for the other spot, but ultimately, they were chosen to play in São Paulo. The game is scheduled for Friday, Sept. 6, making it the first opening week NFL game to be broadcast on a Friday night in over 50 years.

Packers President and CEO Mark Murphy expressed his excitement about playing in Brazil and helping expand the international popularity of the NFL. The Packers have previous international experience having played preseason games in Canada and Tokyo as well as a regular-season game in London last year.

In addition to this game, there will be four other international games during the 2024 NFL season. The Carolina Panthers will host a game in Munich while Minnesota Vikings, Chicago Bears and Jacksonville Jaguars will all host games in London.
