NYU Langone Health and Long Island Hospital Move Closer to Merger

In the near future, NYU Langone Health in New York City is set to merge with Long Island Community Hospital in Patchogue, N.Y. The merger is expected to be completed within a year, as per a spokesperson for the health system. Although Long Island Community Hospital remains a separate corporation at present, its association with NYU Langone allows it to access the resources of the larger health system. The full merger between the two organizations is anticipated to take place approximately one year from now.

The affiliation between Long Island Community Hospital and NYU Langone Health was approved by state and federal authorities in 2022. As a result, NYU Langone became the active parent of the 306-bed medical center. The two organizations first announced their plans for affiliation in the summer of 2021. Once the merger is finalized, Long Island Community Hospital will receive a new name and become a part of a division within the NYU Langone hospital system.
