OIA D-I Volleyball Championship: Moanalua vs. Mililani – Will the Gap Be Enlarged or Closed?

Moanalua and Mililani set to face off in OIA boys volleyball championship rematch

On Wednesday night, the Moanalua boys volleyball team has a chance to widen their gap from the rest of the Oahu Interscholastic Association as they face off against Mililani. However, it will not be an easy task for Moanalua as Na Menehune secured their spot in the OIA Division I championship match by sweeping Campbell in three sets on Monday night.

Na Menehune and Mililani have a history of facing off against each other in the league’s post-COVID championship matches. In their game against Castle, Tyler Duranceau and Aris Mateo led Mililani with 18 kills each while Ezekiel Sablan and D’Angelo Ross contributed for Moanalua against Campbell.

Moanalua has dominated the OIA D-I volleyball scene, winning 10 out of the last 11 titles with nine of them under coach Alan Cabanting. The exception was in 2017 when Mililani clinched the championship under Trent Niino. The winner of Wednesday’s match will earn the OIA’s seeded berth in the state tournament.
