President Biden’s 4th Visit to Wisconsin to Promote Investment in Infrastructure and Technology

Racine entrepreneur responds to President’s visit

President Biden made his fourth visit to Wisconsin this year to promote his administration’s Investing in America agenda and the significant $3.3 billion investment Microsoft is making in a new data center in Mount Pleasant. The event was attended by union members, Gateway Technical College employees, and Racine County residents eager to learn more about the tech giant’s plans for the community.

During his speech, President Biden highlighted the importance of investing in infrastructure and technology to create jobs and drive economic growth. He praised Microsoft’s commitment to creating over 2,000 full-time jobs once the new data center is operational and training more than 100,000 people with AI skills by the end of the decade.

Small business owner Latoya Thurmond, who runs an early education business called LaPre Academy, was also in attendance at the event. She expressed her gratitude for Microsoft’s investment in her hometown and felt energized by the renewed hope it brings to the community after years of failed promises from Foxconn Corporation. The construction for the data center is expected to be completed within two years.
