Protecting Health Workers in Conflict Zones: An Urgent Call for Action during World Health Worker Week 2024

Health Care Under Siege: Bi-Monthly News Brief on Attacks in Sudan – March 06-19, 2024

Insecurity Insight is urging policymakers to take urgent action to prevent attacks on health workers in conflict zones, during the World Health Worker Week (WHWW) from April 1 to April 7, 2024. As part of this week, SHCC chair Len Rubenstein will be speaking at the ‘Supporting and Safeguarding Health Workers Globally’ event on April 3. Interested individuals can register for the event.

In addition to WHWW, the Humanitarian Network and Practice Week 2024 is focusing on improving access to healthcare through community support and ensuring security risk management for hospitals in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC). A panel will discuss the impact of attacks on the health system, health service delivery, staff, and affected communities in the DRC. Although the discussion will center on the situation in the DRC, the findings may be relevant to other countries facing similar violations of the right to health. The online event will take place on May 3 from 3:00 PM to 4:30 PM CET, conducted in French with simultaneous English translation. Interested participants can find more information and register for the event.
