Rash of Early Morning Thefts in Chicago: A Look at the Coffee Shop and Gas Station Robberies

Robbers committed 7 armed robberies in Chicago in under an hour

A group of thieves wreaked havoc on the streets of Chicago early Thursday morning, targeting several coffee shops and gas stations in a short period of time. The robbers managed to steal cash from all the locations they hit within less than an hour. Fortunately, no one was injured during the spree.

The first hit was at a Dunkin’ Donuts on W. Washington Blvd., where cash was taken from the registers and a man inside. The robbers then moved on to a Starbucks near the Ogilvie Transportation Center, before striking again at another Dunkin’ Donuts location on the Near West Side. They also hit a business downtown and a Circle K convenience store in North Center.

Despite their quick succession of robberies, no arrests had been made yet as Chicago Police reminded businesses to ensure their surveillance cameras were in working order and urged anyone with information on the robberies to contact Belmont Area detectives at 312-744-8263.
