Retired NFL Offensive Line Coach Larry Beightol passes away at the age of 81

Larry Beightol, a former Packers offensive line coach, passed away at the age of 81 in Fayetteville, Arkansas. Beightol coached the Green Bay Packers from 1999 to 2005 and was hired by Ray Rhodes but spent most of his tenure under Mike Sherman. During his time with the Packers, he coached four players who later entered the Packers Hall of Fame: center Frank Winters, guard Marco Rivera, and tackles Chad Clifton and Mark Tauscher.

Beightol played college football at Catawba College in North Carolina before beginning his coaching career at the College of William & Mary in 1968. He briefly served as head coach at Louisiana Tech in 1979, finishing the season with a record of 2-8. Throughout a coaching career that spanned 22 years, Beightol worked as an offensive line coach for eight different NFL teams, including the Falcons in 1986, the Buccaneers from 1987 to 1988, the Chargers in 1989, the Jets from 1990 to 1994, the Oilers in 1995, the Dolphins from 1996 to 1998, and finally with Green Bay. In his final year as an active coach (2006), he worked for the Lions.
