Rise in Global Passenger Numbers: Atlanta’s Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport Tops the List of World’s Busiest Airports

Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport in Atlanta Holds Record as World’s Busiest

The aviation industry is experiencing a significant rebound in global passenger numbers, with a nearly 94 percent increase from pre-pandemic levels. This growth is being driven by international travel, which is rapidly approaching the same levels as domestic travel. Despite economic conditions, there is a growing interest in travel, and China’s reopening has played a significant role in this growth.

According to the Airports Council International (ACI) World, Atlanta’s Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport secured the top spot on the list of the world’s busiest airports for 2023 with a staggering 104.7 million passengers. Five other U.S. airports also ranked among the world’s busiest in 2023.

Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport dropped to the third spot on the list, while Dubai International Airport climbed to second place. Denver International Airport claimed the sixth position, followed by Los Angeles at eighth place and Chicago at ninth.
