Romulo Roux Calls for Reform and Dismantling of Corrupt Political System at Rally

Rómulo Roux, Opposition Candidate in Panama’s 2024 Elections, Demands an End to Corruption in Politics

At a campaign closing event on Wednesday, opposition presidential candidate Romulo Roux urged Panamanians to vote for constitutional reform and dismantling of the political system that he believes harbors corruption. He implored his followers to support this change on May 5th, emphasizing the need to rid the country of corrupt practices.

Roux, who is 59 years old and represents the center-right, expressed his desire to “finally put an end to corrupt politics” and create a system that upholds transparency and accountability. Despite facing tough competition from candidates like José Raúl Mulino, Martin Torrijos, and Ricardo Lombana, Roux remains committed to his vision of constitutional reform and systemic change. He has promised to create jobs, raise minimum pensions, and revitalize the economy if elected. Additionally, Roux aims to build a railway connecting the capital to the western province of Chiriqui.

Throughout his campaign, Roux has emphasized the importance of choosing between continuity with the current corrupt system or real change that prioritizes the well-being of the Panamanian people. He has positioned himself as a viable alternative to the status quo, offering a fresh perspective and a bold plan for the future.

Roux’s political history has not deterred his supporters. Despite serving as chancellor and minister under former president Ricardo Martinelli during scandals that rocked Panama’s political landscape, Roux has distanced himself from past mistakes and focused on presenting a platform that resonates with everyday citizens’ concerns. With just days left until election day, Roux remains hopeful that his message of reform and progress will win over voters and usher in a new era for Panama.

At a rally in James de Veraguas province on Wednesday evening, Romulo Roux called upon Panamanians to vote for change in their constitution and political system.
