Saints Strengthen Depth Chart with New Draft Picks: Additions of Rattler, Boyd, and Ford Give Team an Edge for Upcoming Season

Saints ink deals with five additional draft picks, including Spencer Rattler

The Saints recently announced that they have signed five more draft picks. Among them are fifth-round quarterback Spencer Rattler, fifth-round receiver Bub Means, fifth-round linebacker Jaylan Ford, sixth-round defensive tackle Khristian Boyd, and seventh-round offensive tackle Josiah Ezirim. Additionally, first-round offensive tackle Taliese Fuaga signed earlier in the day, leaving only second-round cornerback Kool-Aid McKinstry as the unsigned draft pick.

The signing of these draft picks marks another step forward for the Saints as they continue to solidify their roster for the upcoming season. With both new and returning players on board, the team is gearing up for a successful campaign ahead. Having locked in key positions such as quarterback, receiver, linebacker, defensive tackle, and offensive tackle, the Saints are making strides towards building a competitive and well-rounded team. With their draft picks now under contract, the team can focus on preparing for the challenges that lie ahead in the upcoming season.

Rattler was selected 150th overall in this year’s NFL Draft and has played three seasons at Oklahoma before transferring to South Carolina. During his career at Oklahoma State University (OSU), he completed 68.5 percent of his passes for 10,807 yards with 77 touchdowns and 32 interceptions while also rushing for 16 scores.

With Rattler joining their quarterbacks room that already includes Derek Carr and Jake Haener, New Orleans will have a strong group of signal callers to choose from when it comes to starting their games.

The signing of these draft picks further strengthens the Saints’ depth chart in several positions. They now have a solid backup option at quarterback with Rattler’s addition to their roster.

Meanwhile on defense side of things they are adding another linebacker with Jaylan Ford who was taken in fifth round as well as adding more size and strength along with Khristian Boyd who was also picked up during the sixth round.

On offense side they added an offensive lineman in Josiah Ezirim who will be helping them protect their star running back Alvin Kamara from taking any damage while playing football.

Overall these signings indicate that New Orleans is taking steps towards becoming a more competitive team by filling out key positions on both sides of ball.
