Samsung Unveils 10.7Gbps LPDDR5X DRAM for Improved Performance and Capacity in On-Device AI Applications

Samsung Introduces Breakthrough Computer Memory Technology to Turbocharge AI Performance — Latest 10.7Gbps LPDDR5X RAM May Pave the Way for Game-Changing LPDDR6 Launch in 2021

Samsung has recently unveiled a new, faster version of its LPDDR5X DRAM that runs at 10.7Gbps, an improvement over the previous chip which ran at 8.5Gbps. This chip is smaller in size than any other LPDDR chip and is suitable for use in on-device AI applications where space constraints are a concern. According to YongCheol Bae, Executive Vice President of Memory Product Planning at Samsung Electronics, demand for low-power, high-performance memory is increasing and LPDDR DRAM is expected to expand its applications beyond mobile devices to other areas such as PCs, accelerators, servers, and automobiles.

The new LPDDR5X chip from Samsung offers improved performance with a 25% boost compared to LPDDR5 and increased capacity by up to 30%. It also raises the single package capacity of mobile DRAM to 32GB. The chip includes power-saving technologies that enhance power efficiency by 25% and enable it to enter low-power mode for extended periods.

Samsung plans to start mass production of the 10.7Gbps LPDDR5X DRAM in the second half of this year after successful verification with mobile application processors (AP) and mobile device providers. This new chip is expected to bring improved performance, efficiency, and capacity to a wide range of applications beyond just mobile devices.

The demand for low-power, high-performance memory is increasing as more devices require higher processing speeds while consuming less power. With the release of its latest LPDDR5X chip, Samsung aims to meet this demand by delivering optimized products that can handle even the most demanding tasks while minimizing energy consumption.

In addition to its technical advancements, Samsung is also collaborating with customers in order to continue innovating and delivering products that meet their needs. By working closely with customers, Samsung can ensure that its products are tailored specifically for their requirements and provide them with the best possible solution.

Overall, the release of Samsung’s new 10.7Gbps LPDDR5X chip marks a significant milestone in the development of low-power memory technology. With its advanced features and capabilities, this chip has the potential to revolutionize how we use memory in our daily lives and push us further into the era of on-device AI applications.
