Health Department Confirms First Case of Measles in Lake County, Illinois

In suburban Lake County, Illinois, another case of measles has been confirmed, adding to the ongoing outbreak in the Chicagoland area. The Lake County Health Department announced that individuals who visited Consume Restaurant in Lake Zurich between March 13 and March 19, as well as those who were at the Advocate Condell emergency room in Libertyville on March 20 and March 21, may have been exposed to the virus. If anyone who has not received the MMR vaccine was present at either location during those times, they are advised to contact the health department for further guidance.

This latest measles case is linked to the outbreak in the City of Chicago, where there have been a total of 17 confirmed cases so far. Four new cases were reported this week. Approximately 10 of these cases have been connected to a migrant shelter in Pilsen. To prevent further cases, the city is mandating that migrants residing in city shelters receive the MMR vaccine.
