Sudden Poisoning Outbreak in Long Khanh City Due to Tainted Bakery Bread

Over 200 Dong Nai residents suspected of food poisoning after consuming bread

On May 1 and 2, Long Khanh Regional General Hospital experienced a sudden increase in patients suspected of poisoning after consuming bread from a bakery in Xuan Binh ward. A total of 209 cases were reported, with one serious case requiring transfer to a higher hospital for further treatment. The symptoms exhibited by the patients included vomiting, diarrhea, fever, and abdominal pain, leading doctors to suspect food poisoning or intestinal infection. Fortunately, the majority of patients are now in stable condition.

The Food Safety and Hygiene Department of Dong Nai province is collaborating with the Medical Center and other relevant agencies in Long Khanh City to investigate the root cause of the incident. The Department of Health has instructed Long Khanh Regional General Hospital to provide the best possible care for the affected patients. Meanwhile, the bakery in question, which has been operating for over a decade, has been temporarily closed as it did not possess a certificate of food safety and hygiene.

The situation is being closely monitored and efforts are being made to ensure the safety and well-being of all individuals involved. It is important for consumers to be vigilant when purchasing food from unknown sources and to report any symptoms or concerns to their local health authorities immediately.
