Survival Story: 54-Year-Old Market Management Official Overcomes Life-Threatening Brain Hemorrhage in Kon Tum Traffic Accident

Kon Tum Accident Market Management patient shows great recovery

A 54-year-old male patient from a group of Market Management officials who was involved in a traffic accident in Kon Tum is recovering well after nearly a week of treatment for brain hemorrhage at Cho Ray Hospital. The patient had initially been treated in Kon Tum before being transferred to Ho Chi Minh City in a coma with multiple injuries.

The scan revealed bleeding in various areas of the brain, as well as severe anemia, broken shoulder blades and ribs. Emergency surgery was performed to remove the hematoma, resulting in the patient’s improved condition.

This patient’s case is the most severe among 15 individuals transferred to Cho Ray Hospital after a car carrying officials and employees of the Ho Chi Minh City Market Management Department collided with a truck in Kon Tum. The accident led to the death of one individual and injuries to 24 others. The remaining patients with milder cases have been treated stably and are recovering well.

Dr. Tran Minh Tri from the Department of Neurosurgery at Cho Ray Hospital reported on April 20 that the patient is fully awake, able to communicate, and his vital signs are stable. A CT scan after the surgery showed normal results, indicating that the hematoma has been removed and the brain edema has improved. The patient’s current condition allows for transfer to a regular hospital room for further monitoring. Overall, the patient’s progress is promising, and the medical team at Cho Ray Hospital is continuing to closely monitor his recovery.
