Tesla Giga Mexico Construction Continues Uninterrupted Despite Global Staff Reduction

Secretary of Economy assures Tesla Giga Mexico will not be impacted by layoffs

Tesla has announced global staff reduction, but this does not affect the construction of Giga Mexico, confirmed the Secretary of Economy of Nuevo León. Secretary of Economy Iván Rivas Rodríguez stated that the work on Tesla Giga Mexico is still progressing, and the company’s investment in the municipality of Santa Catarina remains unchanged.

Rodríguez mentioned that the plant is still operational, and the collaboration with Tesla has not encountered any obstacles due to the recent layoffs. He emphasized that the project is advancing as planned, and there is no perceived risk associated with the ongoing construction efforts.

On Monday, some Tesla employees received notifications of their layoff via email. The company explained that the restructuring was necessary to optimize operations and streamline functions following years of rapid growth and expansion across different regions.

While Tesla employees in the United States and China were affected by the layoffs, those working at Giga Berlin in Europe have not received any notice of impending job cuts. Giga Berlin’s management clarified that local media reports of potential layoffs were inaccurate, and no such action was planned without proper consultation with works council, unions, and relevant employment agencies.
