The Future of Technology: UTC’s Seventh Annual Technology Symposium Showcases Applied Research Projects

The 7th Annual Technology Symposium Held by UTC College of Engineering and Computer Science

The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga’s (UTC) seventh annual Technology Symposium is set to take place on April 15. The event, sponsored by the UTC College of Engineering and Computer Science (CECS), will showcase research projects by high school students from the local area, as well as undergraduate and graduate-level applied research projects from Cleveland State Community College and UTC.

The day-long symposium will feature a keynote address by Greg Heinrich, a UTC alumnus who is currently the vice president of transmission operations and power supply at TVA. Following his speech, attendees can explore an exhibit featuring over 130 community projects, as well as undergraduate and graduate-level research projects in the University Center Tennessee Room.

Judges from more than 40 prominent companies such as TVA, Stantec, EPB, Amazon, American Express, and Netflix will assess the submissions and interact with participating students. Project topics range from identifying aging-related genes from muscle gene expression data to fraud detection in financial transactions using machine learning.
