Tomorrow’s Science Trailblazers: A STAT Virtual Event

Each year, STAT selects a new class of Wunderkinds, highlighting the brightest minds in science and medicine as they launch their careers. To celebrate these rising stars, a livestream of the event will be embedded below at 1 p.m. ET for a discussion with past all-star Wunderkinds. The conversation will focus on their journeys, where they are now, and their most inspiring and innovative ideas.

The event will feature a Sponsor Introduction by Lauren Averett Byers, M.D., professor of thoracic/head & neck medical oncology at MD Anderson Cancer Center, and Koichi Takahashi, M.D., Ph.D., associate professor of Leukemia at MD Anderson Cancer Center.

Nicole M. Gaudelli, Ph.D., an entrepreneur in residence (EIR) at GV (formerly Google Ventures) and the inventor of the Adenine Base Editor, a gene-editing tool with potential applications in treating various genetic diseases, will be one of the featured speakers. Kellie Jurado, Ph.D., presidential assistant professor of microbiology at the University of Pennsylvania, researches immune system development and response to viral infections during early life. Bianca Jones Marlin, Ph.D., Herbert and Florence Irving assistant professor of cell research at Columbia University’s Zuckerman Mind Brain Behavior Institute investigates the biology of how trauma and stress can be inherited across generations
