Wellness Expo on Campus Promotes Healthy Living with a Two-Mile Walk and Various Complementary Health Services

Community Health Expo in its Third Year Set to Take Place this Weekend, as Featured in E-News

On Sunday (April 28) at the Student Recreation Center, a variety of complementary health services and wellness-related information will be available from 1-5 p.m. This event is being hosted by the Health Sciences and Technology Academy, Minorities Association of Pre-Healthcare Students, and the Student National Medical Association.

During the expo, attendees can participate in activities such as a two-mile Community Health Walk starting at 2:30 p.m., followed by a run at 3:30 p.m. The walk aims to promote physical activity and healthy living habits.

The event will provide valuable information on various health topics, including oxygen screenings by the WVU Medicine Children’s Transport Team, blood pressure and nutritional screenings by Project REACH, and education on diabetes prevention/exercise promotion by the WVU Student Nurses’ Association.

Gregory Epps, advisor to the sponsoring student organizations, stated that the goal of this event is to create an inclusive atmosphere where people can enjoy themselves while receiving beneficial services and information for their personal health and wellness. The Expo is supported by several partners including WVU Health Sciences Center, WVU Medicine, NASA WV Space Grant Consortium, and other campus and community organizations.
