Twins Games Go Dark on Comcast as Bally Sports and Cable Giant Fail to Reach Agreement

Dispute between Minnesota Twins and Comcast leads to blackout on Bally Sports

The negotiations between Comcast and Diamond Sports, the owner of Bally Sports, fell through, leaving Twins games unavailable on Comcast. The source of the conflict was Diamond Sports’ ongoing bankruptcy proceedings, which made it difficult for the company to agree on a new deal with Comcast.

Comcast Xfinity customers were informed about the situation through a message displayed on the Bally Sports channel. The message explained that Diamond Sports had offered multiple options to continue carrying the networks, but all of these were rejected by Comcast, resulting in the loss of rights to the content.

The Twins expressed their disappointment over the dispute that led to the channel being dropped and fans losing access to games. However, they clarified in a statement that they had no role in the disagreement between Comcast and Bally Sports. They hoped for a resolution to be reached soon so that fans could once again watch games.

Diamond Sports Group, Bally’s owner, assured fans that they could still access Bally Sports through Fubo, DirecTV or their streaming service. In response to Comcast’s decision, Diamond Sports criticized them for rejecting a proposed extension that would have kept the channels on air. Meanwhile, Comcast spokesperson stated that they had been flexible with Diamond Sports during their bankruptcy proceedings but ultimately lost out on carrying programming due to an agreement not being reached. As compensation for customers who had Bally Sports as part of their cable subscription, Comcast issued credits ranging from $8 to $10.
