Venezuela’s Triumph: Qualifying for Paris 2024 Celebrated by Panam Sports

Venezuela is thrilled to announce that weightlifter Katherin Echandia has qualified for the Paris 2024 Olympics. On the first day of competition at the World Weightlifting Championships held in Phuket, Thailand, Echandia lifted 85 kilograms in the snatch, 108 in the clean and jerk, and achieved an Olympic total of 193 kilos, securing sixth place in the competition.

The news from Phuket brought great excitement for Venezuela as Echandia showcased her skills and secured her spot for the Olympic Games. In the women’s 49kg category, both Katherin Echandia and Dominican three-time Olympian Beatriz Pirón qualified for Paris 2024.

Echandia has had a successful sports career, with a gold medal at the 2018 Youth Olympic Games, a bronze medal at the 2018 World Cup, a bronze at the 2021 Cali Junior Pan American Games, and a silver at the Santiago 2023 Pan American Games. Her qualification adds to Venezuela’s total of 18 qualifiers in nine sports for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.
