VHC Health and Kiwanis Club Partner for Successful Health Fair in Arlington

Partnership Brings Health Fair to Arlington

A successful health fair was recently held at Alice West Fleet Elementary School, thanks to a collaboration between the Kiwanis Club of Arlington and VHC Health. The event, which took place on April 20th, aimed to provide essential health services to low-income residents, the uninsured, and underinsured individuals. Megan Canote, BSN, RN, director of the VHC Health Outpatient Clinic, spoke about the importance of this initiative.

The health fair was made possible through funding from the Diana Davis Spencer Foundation and organizational support from the Kiwanis Club. Various social-safety-net agencies such as the Arlington Food Assistance Center, Doorways, Virginia Cooperative Extension, and Arlington County government personnel also participated in the event.

Community outreach efforts were carried out in both English and Spanish with plans to include Mongolian translations next year to reach an even broader demographic within Arlington’s immigrant community. The collaborative effort between the Kiwanis Club of Arlington and VHC Health aims to provide healthy dividends in the future by ensuring that essential health services are accessible to all members of the community. The success of their first health fair demonstrates the impact of such partnerships in promoting wellness and support for those in need.
