Attack on Police Officers in Connewitz, Leipzig with Paving Stones

In Leipzig, a major raid against nine suspected left-wing extremists led to violent attacks on the police in Saxony. On Friday night, rioters targeted the police station in the Connewitz district of Leipzig, hurling paving stones at the entrance and damaging a window. The facade was also covered with graffiti containing the message “ACAB” which stands for “All cops are bastards.”

The incidents continued as barricades were erected on several streets in the left-wing alternative district. Waste glass containers were pulled onto the streets, wooden pallets were stacked, and attempts were made to set the barriers on fire. This area has seen previous clashes between left-wing extremists and the police, as well as politically motivated vandalism.

The attacks were believed to be in response to a major raid that took place in Leipzig. The LKA and special commission “Soko LinX” conducted searches in various parts of the city leading to the arrest of nine individuals accused of attacking a neo-Nazi at Leipzig Central Station. These individuals face charges including criminal damage, arson, and assault on a police officer. The incidents highlight the ongoing tensions between left-wing extremists and law enforcement in the area.
