Sunday will be warm with increasing clouds and a chance of spotty showers returning on Monday, despite gusty conditions. The beginning of next week will remain very warm, with temperatures in the upper 70s to lower 80s until Wednesday. However, by Friday and into the weekend, cooler temperatures are expected. There is currently no forecast for frost in the Tri-Cities area through next Friday. Meteorologist Teresa Carter provides the updated weather information and encourages residents to stay informed with the latest severe weather alerts, weather cams, and other resources available through Storm Track 5.

Residents in Smyth County, Virginia, and the western mountain counties of North Carolina should be aware of wind advisories in place until this evening, with gusts up to 50 mph. Despite the gusty conditions, Sunday will bring a mix of clouds and sun with warmer temperatures reaching highs of 72-78 degrees. Breezy conditions are expected especially in the afternoon with a southwest wind of 10-20 mph and higher gusts. Sunday night will be partly cloudy and very mild with lows of 53-57 degrees and a southwest wind of 10-25 mph with higher gusts.

The weekend weather forecast includes clear skies on Saturday night with lows ranging from 43-46 degrees and a southwest wind of 5-10 mph. Scattered showers are possible later in the week as a cold front approaches Wednesday into Thursday, bringing cooler temperatures by Friday and into the weekend.
