Wisconsin Badgers Women’s Hockey Team Suffers Heartbreaking Loss in NCAA Championship, but Fans Can Still Look Forward to Five Players Representing the U.S. at the World Championships.

Five Wisconsin Badgers Chosen to Represent U.S. National Women’s Hockey Team

Wisconsin Badgers women’s hockey team suffered a heartbreaking 1-0 loss to Ohio State in the NCAA championship game, leaving coach Mark Johnson disappointed and frustrated. Despite the loss, there is still cause for excitement among Badgers fans as five players from the team have been selected to represent the United States at the upcoming International Ice Hockey Federation women’s world championships in Utica, New York from April 3-14.

Forwards Britta Curl, Lacey Eden, Laila Edwards, and Kirstin Simms will be among the 25-player roster. In addition to current Badgers players, former UW star Hilary Knight will also join the team at the world championships. The coaching staff includes Neenah native John Wroblewski with former UW captain Sis Paulsen serving as the equipment manager.

Among the selected players, Edwards and Simms will be making their debuts at the world championships while Curl, Eden, and Harvey have represented the United States before. Harvey has an impressive resume with a silver medal from the 2022 Olympics and gold and silver medals from previous world championships. Eden and Curl also have multiple world championship appearances under their belts.

As Wisconsin players prepare to compete at the highest level of women’s hockey, they will bring with them their experience gained from their time with Badgers program while showcasing its strength and talent on an international stage.
