Joining the panel were Sanya Richards-Ross, Richard Kilty, and Kelly Sotherton, as well as World Athletics President Sebastian Coe and CEO Jon Ridgeon.
In the discussion, Coe and Ridgeon made bold predictions for the men’s and women’s 4x100m and 4x400m relays, as well as the mixed relay event. Ridgeon and Sotherton predicted that India could secure a podium place in the men’s 4x400m, noting India’s rise as a powerhouse in athletics.
The highlight of the podcast discussion was Ridgeon’s announcement of a plan to test the viability of a mixed 4x100m relay event. He expressed his belief that mixed athletics could be the future of the sport and shared that they are exploring different variations of the idea. Richards-Ross and Sotherton eagerly volunteered to be part of the testing phase and suggested ideas to make the event even more exciting.
Kilty, who is part of Great Britain’s men’s 4x100m squad in Nassau, also joined in on making predictions for the event. The podcast also provided clarification on the qualification process for relay teams competing at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.
