WTMS Middle School Academic Teams Shine at Indiana Academic Super Bowl-Jr. Division with Science State Championship and English and Social Studies Runner-Ups

Science Takes Top Spot at State Championship; English & Social Studies Place Second in Academic Super Bowl Competition

The Washington Township Middle School Academic Teams had a standout performance at the Indiana Academic Super Bowl-Jr. Division competition. The English and Social Studies Teams were named State Runner-Ups, while the Science Team clinched the Class 4 State title with a score of 22 out of 25 questions answered correctly.

The WTMS Science Team, comprised of Addison Peres (captain), Jacob Barker, and Kirk VarnHagen, achieved an impressive feat by winning the Class 4 State championship for the school’s tenth science state title and its fourth consecutive win.

On the other hand, the WTMS English Team, led by Stephen Cannon (captain), Karson Kish, and Liam Swiatkowski, was recognized as the Class 4 English Runner-Up with a score of 22 out of 25 questions answered correctly. Meanwhile, the Social Studies Team, including Addison Peres (captain), McKenna Bouchee, and Karson Kish, was honored as the Class Social Studies Runner-Up with a score of 18 out of 25 questions answered correctly.

WTMS Academic Teams have an impressive record of 24 Academic State Championships in just 19 years of competition, making them the most successful middle school in Porter County and leading among all middle schools in Indiana. Additionally, Washington Township received recognition as an Indiana Academic Super Bowl-Jr. Division Class 4 Top Ten school for the 19th consecutive year.
