Zelensky’s Plea for US and German Support in Amidst Uncertainty over Military Defense Capabilities

Zelenskiy threatens to withdraw if US aid is not received

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky expressed concern about another potential blockade of US military aid in Congress, stating that it would lead to a gradual withdrawal of Ukrainian forces. He emphasized the importance of US support for their anti-aircraft defense, Patriot missiles, electronic warfare jammers, and artillery shells. Without this support, Ukraine would be forced to retreat step by step, losing key capabilities and resources.

Zelensky stressed the critical need to find a way to maintain their military defense without US assistance. In addition to US support, Ukraine has also been relying on a delivery of German Taurus cruise missiles. However, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz has rejected the possibility of providing Taurus missiles to Ukraine, causing further concern for the country’s defense capabilities.

The internal discussions in Germany regarding the delivery of Taurus missiles to Ukraine remain ongoing, adding to the uncertainty surrounding Ukraine’s military support. Despite these challenges, Zelensky remains committed to protecting his country and its people from aggression. He continues to work tirelessly with international partners to secure the necessary resources and support for Ukraine’s defense efforts.
