NBC Sports reports that the Chargers have signed Ben Mason

Jim Harbaugh, the Chargers head coach, has the opportunity to coach one of his former Michigan players during his first season back in the NFL. ESPN’s Field Yates reported on Tuesday that the Chargers have signed fullback Ben Mason.

Mason, who played tight end, defensive lineman, and fullback during his time at Michigan, brings versatility to the Chargers roster. In his four years with the Wolverines, he ran 37 times for 87 yards and nine touchdowns, while also catching a touchdown and making 14 tackles.

Originally drafted by the Ravens in the third round of the 2021 draft, Mason was unable to secure a spot on the team. He then had stints with the Patriots and Bears before returning to Baltimore and eventually appearing in one game last season.

Now, Mason has the opportunity to continue his NFL career under the guidance of his former college coach, Jim Harbaugh. It will be interesting to see how Mason’s skills and versatility will be utilized in the Chargers’ offense.
