Economic Insights and Legislation: A Meeting of the Foundation of the Mediterranean and Argentina’s Economic Minister

Luis Caputo to Meet with 500 Businessmen at Stock Exchange on Monday Amid Bases Law Debate

The Foundation of the Mediterranean, founded by Domingo Cavallo in 1977, has invited Minister of Economy Luis Caputo to speak at their annual meeting on Monday at 6 p.m. at the Stock Exchange. This event will be attended by nearly 500 businessmen from various groups, including the regionals, the Business Convergence Forum, and the Group of Six.

Caputo was invited to speak at this event two months ago and will be joined by María Pia Astori as chairperson. The discussion will be coordinated by Juan Ignacio Abuchdid and Osvaldo Giordano, both members of the Foundation and prominent figures in the economic sector. While there is no defined agenda for this meeting, attendees are eagerly anticipating insights into the direction of Carlos Melconian’s recently commissioned economic plan.

Recent measures announced by Caputo include tariff reductions for input imports in agriculture and automotive industries, but uncertainties about economic recovery persist among businessmen. They hope for clarity on issues such as exiting stocks, achieving sustainability in economic adjustment plans, and ending the recession. Progress on Bases Law legislation is also anticipated, which includes privatizations, extraordinary powers for a year, State reform, labor reform, and government governance through laws instead of decrees.

Overall, this meeting aims to provide updates on economic policies that affect businesses and seek support for key legislation like Bases Law in order to stabilize and stimulate economic growth.
