The Alabama Department of Public Health has mandated that dogs, cats, and ferrets must be vaccinated by law. Luckily, Mobile pet owners have access to resources to help them comply with this requirement. The Mobile County Health Department is offering low-cost rabies shots for dogs, cats, and ferrets.
In April, there are several drive-through clinics scheduled where pet owners can take advantage of this opportunity. These clinics will offer one-year-long rabies vaccines for $12, payable in cash. Here are the remaining clinics for the month:
– April 13 from 10 a.m. to noon at the Mobile County Animal Shelter located at 7665 Howells Ferry Road in Mobile
– April 13 from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. at Pet Supplies Plus located at 803 Hillcrest Road in Mobile
– April 20 from 10 a.m. to noon at Glamour Paws Grooming located at 10005 Dauphin Island Parkway in Theodore
– April 26 from 9 a.m. to noon hosted by Prichard Animal Shelter located at 2402 West Rebel Road (the clinic will be in the Prichard Municipal Stadium parking lot)
These clinics are part of a larger initiative to ensure that animals are vaccinated against rabies. In fact, according to a news release, the program vaccinated over 2,004 household pets in 2023 alone!
