Greiner Plastics: Emphasizing Sustainability and Growth in a Time of Challenge

Europe in Focus as Greiner Faces Decrease in Demand

Greiner, an Upper Austrian plastics and foam company, has been a shining example of commitment to Europe and Austria despite recent discussions about the declining mood among companies and poor investments in these regions. Despite facing challenges like workforce shortages, Greiner is focused on growth and sustainability, with a goal of increasing the proportion of women in management positions to 40 percent by 2030.

The CEO of Greiner, Saori Dubourg, emphasized the company’s dedication to remaining anchored in Europe. She highlighted the favorable conditions in Austria for developing new technologies and products. In spite of a difficult year with a 9.1 percent decrease in sales, Greiner’s leadership remains optimistic about the future, pointing to signs of recovery in the packaging sector for the current financial year.

Greiner is not only committed to remaining anchored in Europe but also focusing on sustainability and the circular economy. The company recently invested in a Serbian recycling company with the aim of achieving the EU’s recycling goals. They are actively engaging with suppliers to meet the requirements of the Supply Chain Act.

Despite facing challenges like workforce shortages, Greiner is investing in employee training and development. This investment has led to an increase in their workforce by 9.3 percent last year, with a slight increase in employees in Austria. Currently, there are 190 vacant positions worldwide, with 60 in Austria. Despite these challenges ahead, Greiner remains focused on growth and sustainability, viewing the European Green Deal as an opportunity to intensify the economy and create new markets.

In conclusion, Greiner stands out as an exemplary business model that demonstrates commitment to both Europe and Austria while prioritizing sustainability and employee development. Their approach serves as a reminder that despite challenges faced by businesses today, it is possible for companies to remain focused on growth while maintaining their commitment to social responsibility.
