Healthcare in Cook County: A Community Conversation on Single-Payer Health Plan with Senator John Marty and Rose Roach

Community Conversation on ‘Single-Payer Minnesota Health Plan’ to be Hosted by WTIP on April 25

On April 25, WTIP will host a community conversation on the Single Payer Minnesota Health Plan. The hour-long discussion will be facilitated by WTIP contributor Kimberly Soeren and will feature two special guests: Senator John Marty and Rose Roach.

During the conversation, Senator Marty will discuss the proposed Minnesota Single-Payer Health Plan and its potential benefits for residents, business owners, and seasonal workers in Cook County. Senator Marty has been an advocate for healthcare coverage in Minnesota and was the author of the proposed Minnesota Health Plan (S.F. 2740) which aims to provide comprehensive medical coverage for all, including services like dental, prescription drugs, vision and hearing care, mental health services, and more. The plan would allow patients to choose their doctors and eliminate co-pays, deductibles, and other barriers to care.

The second guest, Rose Roach, is the former director of the Minnesota Nurses Association and now serves as the National Coordinator of the Labor Campaign for Single Payer. Roach brings her expertise and perspective on the issue to the discussion.
