The Upstate high school boys athlete of the week for April 29-May 5 has been announced. Polls will be closing at 5 p.m. on Wednesday, and multiple votes are allowed. Last week’s winner was Landrum baseball player Titus Poore, who received over 5,000 votes.

Carson Boleman of Southside Christian pitched a complete game and struck out 17 batters in a 6-3 victory over Lewisville in the baseball playoffs. Wilfer Bustamante from J.L. Mann scored two goals in a 3-2 soccer win against Clover in the Upper State semifinals. Chansen Cole of Boiling Springs pitched a shutout, allowing four hits and striking out seven, while also scoring the winning run in a 1-0 victory over Woodmont.

Erik Erlenkeuser of T.L. Hanna shot a 68 for medalist honors in the Region 1-AAAAA golf tournament. States Farr from Spartanburg homered, drove in three runs, scored two, and went 2-for-2 with two walks in a 7-1 win over Rock Hill. Liam Montes of St. Joseph’s scored four goals in an 8-0 soccer win against Bamberg-Ehrhardt. Brody Pike from Powdersville scored a total of eight goals and three assists in three soccer victories.
