The women’s basketball team at JMU has already seen some notable changes to its roster. While it’s expected that the team won’t see major turnover, new additions are already making an impact and key players are on their way out.

One of the most highly anticipated transfers to JMU is Ro Scott from Marshall. Scott led the Thundering Herd in scoring in 2022-23 and is known as a quality scorer in the Sun Belt. Although she only played six games in the 2023-24 season, she is expected to bring an offensive boost to the Dukes. Another newcomer is Zakiya Stephenson from Ole Miss, who averaged over 10 minutes per game as a freshman and has a strong chance of making it into JMU’s rotation for the 2024-25 season.

On the departures front, Chloe Sterling, a rising junior who played well as one of JMU’s point guards in 2023-24, is leaving the team. She led the team in assists and had shown potential to develop into an All-Conference player. Additionally, Steph Ouderkirk, a role player for the Dukes
