North Carolina Business Fundraising for St. Augustine’s University

Marcia Cox, the owner of Kaldi’s Coffeehouse & Roastery in Huntersville, N.C., has launched an initiative to support Saint Augustine’s University by donating 30% of profits from its special Saint Augustine’s University coffee line to the university’s Falcon Pride Initiative Fund. The fund aims to raise $5 million and ensure the school is financially stable as it seeks accreditation.

Since introducing the Saint Augustine’s line, Cox has received over 30 orders in just two weeks and plans to make her first donation to the university at the end of the month. Cox graduated from North Carolina A&T in 2023 and felt compelled to help when she saw the need at another historically Black university. She launched an HBCU line of coffee beans, offering special North Carolina A&T, Winston-Salem State University, and Saint Augustine’s University branded coffee. Ten percent of proceeds from the N.C. A&T and WSSU options will go to the respective schools, while 30% of profits from the Saint Augustina
