New World Mixed Doubles Champions Crowned at World Snooker Championship

Luca Brecel and Reanne Evans defeat Mark Selby and Rebecca Kenna to claim World Mixed Doubles title

At the World Mixed Doubles Championship, Luca Brecel and Reanne Evans emerged victorious in the final against Mark Selby and Rebecca Kenna. This win marked a significant achievement for Brecel, the reigning world champion, and Evans, a 12-time women’s world champion from England. The pair secured a 4-2 victory in Manchester, with Brecel showcasing his skills by making two half-centuries in the opening frame.

The tournament, which was reintroduced to the World Snooker Tour in 2022 after being played once before in 1991, features pairings of top male and female players competing in a round-robin group stage. Despite facing some challenges, such as having his car towed just before the final, Brecel expressed his delight at the win and the momentum it gives him as he prepares to defend his world title at the Crucible in Sheffield.

In the group stage, Selby and Kenna secured a 3-1 victory over Brecel and Evans in their final game, finishing at the top of the table with seven frames won. Despite this loss, Brecel and Evans advanced to the final due to a superior head-to-head record. The defending champions, Neil Robertson and Mink Nutcharut, finished at the bottom of the standings following two draws and a defeat.
