SGMC Health Earns Three-Year Accreditation for Vascular Testing, Strengthening Commitment to Cardiovascular Disease Prevention and Treatment

IAC Recognizes SGMC Health for Vascular Testing Accreditation

SGMC Health is proud to announce it has received a three-year accreditation from the Intersocietal Accreditation Commission (IAC) in Vascular Testing, covering Peripheral Arterial Testing and Extracranial Cerebrovascular Testing. This accreditation highlights the importance of vascular testing procedures within the health system as they allow for early detection of life-threatening heart disorders, strokes, and other diseases.

Cardiovascular diseases are a leading cause of death in the United States, with one American dying every 34 seconds and nearly 800,000 strokes occurring annually. These statistics underscore the need for timely diagnosis and intervention. Dr. David Hardy, a Vascular Surgeon at SGMC Health, emphasizes the health system’s dedication to providing high-quality patient care in vascular testing and tailored treatments and surgeries to meet the needs of the community in South Georgia.

The IAC accreditation serves as a symbol of assurance for patients, demonstrating SGMC Health’s commitment to maintaining excellent standards of care and continuous improvement. SGMC Health underwent a rigorous application and review process to earn this accreditation, which involved a detailed self-evaluation and review by a panel of medical experts. This process evaluated both the operational and technical components of the health system, including case studies and final reports.

SGMC Health’s accredited vascular testing program is an example of its commitment to providing top-notch patient care in cardiovascular disease prevention and treatment. For more information on SGMC Health’s accredited vascular testing program, please visit sgmc.org.
