Exploring Youth Mental Health in the Digital Age: A Focus for the Council Rock Coalition

The Council Rock Coalition for Healthy Youth (CRCHY) is hosting a free screening of “Screenagers – Next Chapter: Addressing Youth Mental Health in the Digital Age” as part of their “Raising Great Kids” series. The event will take place on April 17 from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at Newtown Middle School.

The film explores the science behind teen’s emotional challenges in the digital age, focusing on social media and ways to help them navigate stress, anxiety, and depression. Filmmaker Dr. Delaney Ruston shares her own struggles helping her teens and offers insights on empowering teens to overcome mental health challenges.

Featuring stories from diverse families with various challenges, the film offers evidence-based methods to support mental wellness in schools and beyond. CRCHY President Francine E. Block will introduce the screening, followed by a live Q&A session with licensed psychologist Dr. Deborah Van Aken, Ph.D., and a representative from the school district. The event is free and open to the public, sponsored by PAStart, Council Rock Education Foundation, CPA, and Jefferson Health.

While pre-registration is not required, it is suggested to ensure enough resources for attendees.

The Council Rock Coalition for Healthy Youth (CRCHY) aims to bring together community members to reduce risk behaviors among youth and help them thrive in a healthy environment.
